Gloria eyes Miss Malawi crown
If history repeats itself, then we should expect to see another Malawi News Model of the year queen vying for the Miss Malawi crown as it is the ambition of newly crowned Malawi News model of the year, Gloria Msindira.
Faith Chibale marked the chapter by winning the Miss Malawi crown a year after winning the Malawi News Model of the year in 2009. In an interview on Wednesday, Gloria, 19 said her next step is to contest for the Miss Malawi crown.
“I will contest in the forthcoming Miss Malawi beauty pageant. I have got confidence from the crown I am holding now and I believe I have the potential to win the crown,” said the Bangwe Township resident.
Gloria who contested for the first time in a national modelling competition said she started the trade while in primary school, but never took it seriously until recently when she got the courage to try her luck in the Malawi News Model of the year.
“I started modelling way back in the days when I was at Chiedza Primary. I never won, but I never gave up,” she explained.
She added that her courage builds from aspirations she get from former Miss Malawi, Elizabeth Pulu and model, actress and television producer Tyra Banks.
Gloria said the crown provides a platform for her to contribute to the society through charity and prove to the public that she has the potential to handle several duties. The Diploma in Business Management student at the Malawi College of Accountancy (MCA) said she will strive to leave a remarkable and reputable record when she leaves office.
